Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Back in early April, I was over in Queen Anne enjoying an iced latte at Caffe Zingaro, and I came across this painting on the wall.

The artist, Chris (a.k.a. Kene_Eye), was doing his first art show at the store, and I became interested in purchasing the piece. This one is called "Ambiguous", and he informed me that it was his first creation for the show.

I don't know what it is about art that moves me (or anyone, for that matter), but this kind of painting is what I find aesthetically pleasing to thine eye. The combination of graffiti art and the paint splotches that surround it give the work an overall look of despair and coordination. There are two heavy sets of splotches in the upper left and lower right corners. Why he chose to focus so much energy in those two areas, I do not know. Coincidence? Maybe. The other areas seem well intended and equally separated.

If you like this painting, you should check out his other works.
